Limestone is a rock composed of at least 80% calcium cabonate or calcite, which is the most common mineral on the face of the earth. Calcite may also contain small amounts of clay and silt. Limestone originates through the accumulation of skeletal remains from shells, living coral and or other animals and plants that lived in shallow seas.
